The Ministry of Education (MoE) is the national authority for Bahrain’s education sector. It manages around 500, public schools and higher education institutions, regulates private providers, sets curriculum standards, and ensures that education across the kingdom is accessible, consistent, and aligned with national development goals.
The Ministry’s website needed to evolve to meet the growing expectations of students, educators, and the wider community. The navigation and structure required simplification to help users reach information more intuitively, while accessibility needed to be strengthened to align with international best practices. In addition, the design needed to be aligned with the national digital framework to ensure consistency across government platforms.

Digital
User Experience Strategy
User experience and accessibility formed the foundation of the new Ministry of Education website. The navigation and structure were overhauled through card sorting and the introduction of faceted navigation, creating a user-driven sitemap and more intuitive content discovery. These improvements were validated through user testing and A/B testing, ensuring optimised user flows and a personalised experience.
User Interface (UI) Design
Accessibility was a central priority. Comprehensive audits were carried out, and the site was built to meet international standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). This created a more inclusive platform for all users. The design was implemented within the unified government framework, also developed by Boxon and approved for national use, ensuring a consistent and intuitive experience across government platforms.

Boxon partnered with the Ministry to create a modern, accessible, and scalable digital platform that meets the needs of all users. The approach combined user-centred design with robust technical development, ensuring both an improved experience for citizens and a sustainable system for the Ministry’s teams.
To further support citizens, the website includes an Educational Institution Finder, an interactive tool that helps families easily search for and locate schools across Bahrain.
For students pursuing education abroad, the Cultural Attachés service provides guidance and resources, ensuring they remain connected and supported throughout their academic journey.
